The sounds of the Eurasian scops owl

Описание: Listen to the repetitive calls of the Eurasian scops owl - Otus scops.

On quiet spring nights in Europe you can hear a repetitive whistle sound, slightly melancholy and very insistent. It tends to go on for many hours as the scops owl advertises its territory and looks for mates. This is a small owl that breeds in Europe and parts of Asia, migrating south over winter. Largely nocturnal, it nests in woodlands and preys on small invertebrates.
