In this documentary we follow the Rahimi family through a complete Afghan mountain winter — watching how they ration their stone-ground wheat flour to last exactly five and a half months, how they melt snow for drinking water twice a day when the spring freezes, how the body heat of two goats and one ox raises the floor temperature of their stone house by five degrees, how Bibi Gul makes fresh mountain cheese from rationed goat milk and treats fever with dried mountain herbs when the nearest doctor is 60 kilometers away on a road that does not exist, and how five people sleep in one room every night from November to April because five bodies are warmer than one. This is Afghan mountain winter survival — ancient, specific, inherited knowledge that has kept twenty-eight families alive in this village for eight hundred years without losing a single one to the cold.
