Описание: Here in this video I am showing how to repair a self starter for Chevy Caprice Holden Commodore car. This is a 2008 Chevrolet. The self starter maintenance is important for any car because it is the first part which is starting a vehicle from stand still. The self start became more important when automatic transmission vehicle came into existence. The automatic transmission vehicles are not getting start without a good starter. There is no possibility of such a vehicle to get it start through pushing it in gear and release the clutch while it comes to run and in such a way the engine gets a push and all component are coming in running sequence to the engine gets start by its fuel and spark system. That is normally is the case with a manual transmission equipped vehicle. So the self starter is important today for almost all vehicles to keep them in running status. A self start is not a very difficult equipment to overhaul. A few tools and a little understanding is required to do the job with perfection. Care is required not to mess with internal component not to fix them in wrong order otherwise chances are the equipment will reject to work in the end or it would draw unnecessary high current without a need. So keep in mind doing such a job to carefully install all the component back in exact reverse order you are going to dis-mental. There are two connections going to self starter. The main fat connection is directly coming from the battery positive. Sometimes it is through a very high current capacity fuse. The other wire connection is for the activation of the self starter. That connection is coming from ignition key witch directly or through self starter relay. There is sometimes a security no start system using the transmission neutral switch or sometimes a security no start through clutch engagement. The troubleshooting for such a system is not very difficult if there is some problem exist in such system. The other drawback of a bad self starter is it is drawing much more current from the battery to operate. That huge current is making the battery defective prematurely. So there is a very bad combination of a bad self starter and a week battery. People are normally replacing battery when they are getting some problem with there starting system. With a new battery a bad self start would do due to high current delivered by a new sharp battery. The only replacement of a battery in such a situation is not a perfect solution as some people are thinking of. The proper solution would be the repair and maintenance of the self starter. In such a way people are replacing batteries after 9 month or a year where as a regular lead acid battery could serve for more than four years in a car which have a good system.
