Verónica Gago is an author, activist, and professor at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of San Martín. She is also a member of Colectiva Ni Una Menos, a movement and collective fighting violence and injustice against women, whether it be domestic, racist, workplace, institutional, or otherwise. Ni Una Menos is fighting for women across Latin America, and inspiring future generations of Argentine feminists to come.

Beyond the collective, 'Ni Una Menos,' which originally derived from Mexican poetry, is a phrase used all across Latin America.

"It's, like, a kind of virus that spread around the world," Gago said.

When approximately 235 women were killed in 2015, Ni Una Menos mobilized to protest gender-based violence. And Ni Una Menos is now advocating for legal abortion in Argentina, where women can be prosecuted for getting the procedure.

"When we say that we want free abortion, we are denouncing that the poor women and girls are [the ones who die] when the abortion is a clandestine practice because that means women that could pay [for] safe abortion are of course not at risk," Gago said.

Gago hopes to continue to educate younger generations on the feminism movement in the future to encourage forward movement for women everywhere.
