Описание: Pope Leo XIV is set to bring back a centuries-old tradition this Sunday, July 6, by spending his holiday at Castel Gandolfo, a move that locals hope will revive tourism in the lakeside town.

The town’s mayor and local business owners are hopeful that Pope Leo’s visit, the first papal stay in 12 years, will draw tourists eager to catch a glimpse of the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Mayor Alberto De Angelis said residents were excited about the visit.

Although Pope Leo XIV is expected to spend most of his vacation privately within a Vatican-owned residence behind gated walls, residents and tourists will still have a chance to see him during religious celebrations scheduled for July 13 and 20.
