On March 12, the Tibetan community in Toronto gathered to commemorate Tibetan Women’s Uprising Day, remembering the bravery of thousands of Tibetan women who protested in Lhasa in 1959 for the freedom of Tibet.
Speeches from Tibetan Women’s community leaders, and supporters who spoke about the courage, resilience, and leadership of Tibetan women in the Tibetan freedom movement.
The program concluded with a candlelight vigil to honor those who sacrificed their lives and to stand in solidarity for the future of Tibet. It was a powerful moment of unity, remembrance, and hope for Tibetans living in Canada and around the world.
Thank you to everyone who came together to keep the spirit of Tibetan women strong and to continue raising awareness for Tibet.
