I'm polished the damage model for the cars and it should be easy to implement this for all the additional car models in the future. The car consist of about 4 separate parts and they can independently detach on impact. I use a FlexibleJoint with a break force that will determine if the impact is hard enough for the parts to come off. I think I will have car upgrades not only for performance and grip but also for more durability in case of contact =)
That's Racing is the working name for a top-down isometric low poly racing game I'm making.
