The BMW M4 Competition Pack is a beefed up, stiffened and more focused version of the BMW M4 coupe. It's not quite as hardcore as the M4 CS but it is more practical than the BMW M4 GTS.
It costs more too, around R135 000 more than the regular, garden-variety, M4 coupe coming in at R 1 449 000. For this you do get the adaptive M suspension, a recalibrated differential and 14kW more... only 14kW, no extra torque. It delivers the power slightly differently though with the torque coming at you in a great bit lump. But that makes it fun.
The biggest change is in the steering feel and the handling prowess. This comes at the cost of comfort and the stiffly sprung Competition Pack can be a little jarring at times.
We take it out onto the track to see if the added power can be felt and whether the harsh ride is justifiable on track. So is the Competition Pack worth the extra folding matter?
