This is a simple example of a basic Hydrogen 2 stoke engine.
This common 66cc engine runs well on hydrogen even with standard ignition timing. In the video you can hear the engine backfiring out of the carburetor and Exhaust, this is because the ignition timing needs to be retarded.
Unlike the 4-stroke engines which are carbon emission-free. The 2 stroke engine still needs lubricating oil to operate, this does defeat the point of using hydrogen as carbon emissions are still being created from the lubricating oil.
that being said, the 2-stroke required less hydrogen gas than the 4-stroke to operate and had better throttle response.
Perhaps a wet sump-style supercharged 2-stoke engine is the way to go?
