I made voluntary NI contributions in 2021 & it still hasn’t increased my pension. What’s going on?

It can take some time for voluntary National Insurance (NI) contributions to be credited to your account and reflected in your State Pension entitlement.
The exact timing can vary depending on when you made the payment and how long it takes for the payment to be processed by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and recorded in your NI record. In general, it can take up to 12 weeks for voluntary contributions to be credited but someone in the comments mentioned that it took around a year for theirs to be credited.
If it has been longer than 12 weeks since you made the payment and you still haven't seen an increase in your State Pension entitlement, you should contact HMRC to inquire about the status of your contribution. They can check to see if the payment has been received and processed and investigate any issues that may be causing a delay.
