A tornado crossed the road less than 200 yards in front of me after sweeping through parts of Macon County and the Decatur area.
Local Macon County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Scott Flannery told me 8-10 homes were destroyed, others were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
One incredible story shared by him from Sunday is that during the tornado, they received a 911 call for a woman who went into labor right as the tornado was moving through. The tornado damaged homes in the same neighborhood as the woman, so they had to respond to get her safely to the hospital. It happened that an ambulance was already dispatched to that area, so they could respond very quickly. She made it to the hospital via ambulance, but they had no information to offer beyond that.
