Our sweet duck surprised us with over 25 eggs in one nest 😳🥚 While that might sound exciting, it’s just not realistic for the size of our pond or our farm setup. As much as we love baby ducklings, 25 would be way too many for our space and ecosystem.
Since she just finished laying and had fully collected the clutch, we carefully handled each egg to make sure none had started developing yet. We decided to remove 10 and leave her with about 15 to hatch. That number is much more manageable for our pond, and we’ll be working to find good homes for the ducklings once they arrive.
Sometimes farm life means making responsible decisions for the health of the animals and the land 💛
