Yesterday, the Supreme Court declined to watch videos during an urgent mentioning. Today, the Delhi High Court accepted a pen drive on record, observed that it would watch the videos later, and directed that all CCTV footage and related video evidence be preserved.

But this was not a verdict.

During the hearing, senior advocates alleged that peaceful protesters were subjected to excessive force, that legal safeguards were ignored, and that video evidence showed serious misconduct. The Union Government strongly denied these allegations, arguing that the petitions relied on unverified social media videos, suppressed material facts, and overlooked the violence allegedly faced by police personnel.

The High Court made one thing clear: it was not accepting the petitioners' allegations as proven, nor was it verifying the videos at this stage. It simply directed the authorities to file their response and ordered the preservation of all relevant evidence.
