People who are cybersecurity specialists need to understand that the "bad guys" look for vulnerabilities and then create scripts or programs that can maliciously act upon those vulnerabilities.
This is true for operating systems, system software, physical hardware, etc.
Over the years, Microsoft has had quite the tussle with "bad guys" creating malicious Excel macros and then getting users to download them and run the macros. So, by default, everything is shut off, macro- and VBA-wise.
VBA is "Visual Basic for Applications" and allows programmers to write code for MS Office using Visual Basic (VB). It's a powerful feature and the "bad guys" know about it! You need to know about it too!!
