However, when it comes to getting a degree, it rarely pays off when it comes to helping you start a career as an artist.

In fact, I would argue that a lot of the time it will actually make it LESS likely that you will find success in this profession.

With few exceptions, when it comes to getting hired to do art for a living, NOONE cares about your degree, all they care about is your SKILL as an artist.

Do you think that anyone asks if a painter has an art degree before buying a painting that moves them?

Do you think anyone cares if you have a degree in photography before hiring you to shoot their wedding?

What they do care about is how good your art is and your skill. So it's much better to take those four years and focus on improving your skills and building up your portfolio.
