This headline might seem trivial to anyone not familiar with the Akai S900, but as the sampler has no MIDI sysex capabilities, nor MIDI CC capabilities, for real time parameter control (except MIDI CC#01for the mod wheel), being able to do this is no small thing. And it's the Mod wheel and CC#01 we're interested in here.
By using the MIDI Solutions "Velocity Converter" box we can use the S900's ability to control the filter over MIDI velocity, but instead of using the keys harder or softer, we tie the mod wheel and CC#01, to velocity instead, thus we can use the mod wheel to set the filter cutoff.
