The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are urging citizens to work with them to ensure no more lives are needlessly lost on the nation's roads.
While the police are reporting a decrease in road deaths and road traffic accidents.. they are concerned about the 300 percent increase in pedal cyclists deaths when compared to 2017. They are also taking note of the number of hit and run incidents.
As the Christmas holiday approaches the police want citizens to be cognizant that alcohol impairs both judgment and coordination skills which are essential elements to operate a motor vehicle safely. This as some 543 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence so far for the year.
Another warning against speeding as an appeal was made to all drivers to exercise caution and responsible road use.
