Parasnath mountain of Jharkhand is famous all over the world. Parasnath is 38 km away from Giridih district of Jharkhand. Actually, Parasnath mountain is a famous pilgrimage site for Jains. Every year lakhs of devotees from India and abroad come here. Parasnath is the only place in the world where 20 Tirthankaras attained salvation. It is described in Jain scriptures that out of the 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism, the first Tirthankara Bhagwan Adinath i.e. Bhagwan Rishabhdev attained salvation on Mount Kailash, the 12th Tirthankara Bhagwan Vasupujya attained salvation in Champapuri, the 22nd Tirthankara Bhagwan Neminath attained salvation on Mount Girnar and the 24th Tirthankara and the last Tirthankara Bhagwan Mahavir attained salvation in Pawapuri located in Bihar. All the other 20 Tirthankaras have attained salvation on the land of Parasnath. There is a group of temples here related to those 20 Tirthankaras. That is why people of Jain religion also call Parasnath as "Gate of Moksha".

झारखंड का पारसनाथ पहाड़ पूरे विश्व में प्रसिद्ध है। पारसनाथ झारखंड के गिरिडीह जिले से 38 km दूर है । दरअसल, पारसनाथ पहाड़ जैन धर्मावलंबियों के लिए प्रसिद्ध तीर्थ स्थल है. यहां हर साल लाखों की संख्या में देश-विदेश से श्रद्धालु आते हैं । पारसनाथ दुनिया का इकलौता ऐसा स्थान है, जहां 20 तीर्थंकरों ने मोक्ष प्राप्त किया था. जैन धर्म शास्त्रों में वर्णन है कि जैन धर्म के 24 तीर्थंकरों में से प्रथम तीर्थंकर भगवान आदिनाथ अर्थात भगवान ऋषभदेव ने कैलाश पर्वत पर, 12 वें तीर्थंकर भगवान वासुपूज्य ने चंपापुरी में, 22वें तीर्थंकर भगवान नेमिनाथ ने गिरनार पर्वत और 24 वें तीर्थंकर तथा अंतिम तीर्थंकर भगवान महावीर ने बिहार स्थित पावापुरी में मोक्ष प्राप्त किया. बाकी अन्य सभी 20 तीर्थंकरों ने पारसनाथ की धरती पर ही मोक्ष प्राप्त किया है. उन्हीं 20 तीर्थंकरों से संबंधित यहां मंदिरों का एक समूह है. इसलिए जैन धर्म के लोग पारसनाथ को "मोक्ष द्वार" भी कहते हैं.
