Overview
NTE is a supernatural urban open-world RPG independently developed by Hotta Studio.
The story begins in Haitro City, where you, an "unlicensed" Phenomenon Hunter, join the antique shop Ebon, a front for handling civilian anomaly cases. Alongside a cast of unique and powerful companions, you'll explore the mysteries hidden within cities large and small, uncovering emotional and whimsical tales—ultimately shaping a one-of-a-kind urban legend that's all your own.

Hello everyone! Our new project, NTE, is finally ready to meet you.
With NTE, we wanted to present a stage that feels familiar—yet tinged with the unknown. In this world, you'll find otters with TV heads, midnight graffiti riders tearing through city streets on skateboards, and countless anomalies that defy common sense. Of course, you'll also meet extraordinary companions with unique abilities, who will help you investigate unfolding events as you gradually uncover and become part of this supernatural metropolis.
We’ve had a lot of thoughts and reflections while developing this supernatural urban open-world concept, and there are a few things we’d really like to share.
First, we wanted the city to feel real. So, we studied urban planning—not just by looking at real-world cities and game designs, but by digging into academic theories of urban design. We want this to be a living city: shops that operate, pedestrians and vehicles with destinations, and districts that have unique styles and community vibes.
Second, we wanted the city to tell good stories. No open-world game is complete without compelling narratives—just as Los Santos wouldn’t be the same without Michael, Trevor, and the rest. We've structured NTE’s story as an episodic dramedy, focusing on vivid character portrayals and finely crafted storytelling. Like an anime series, we aim to spark curiosity, build immersion, and keep you coming back to explore more.
Third, we want the experience of city life to be immersive rather than exhausting. Instead of loading the open world with fatigue-inducing tasks, we emphasize immersion in everyday urban life. There’s even a city management gameplay loop: run your own shop, earn money, and use it to buy cars, homes, and enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle.
Development on NTE has been underway for a while now, and Haitro City has grown from nothing into something real. For the first reveal, we chose a one-shot continuous in-game demo to give you a raw, uninterrupted feel for the city and its ecosystem. The city will continue to expand, new residents will move in, and more stories will unfold on this stage.
To bring this all to life, we’re building NTE with Unreal Engine 5 and putting significant effort into multi-platform optimization to ensure a great experience for all players.
