Single-use plastic items will be banned across the country as of July 1. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) had already informed producers, retailers, street sellers, and the general public about the ban on single-use plastic items earlier this year.
India's central government announced the ban in August this year, following its 2019 resolution to address plastic pollution in the country. The ban on most single-use plastics will take effect from July 1, 2022.
