A classic Maharashtrian sweet treat! Here's a simple recipe for
Til Gul (Sesame Seed and Jaggery Ladoo):
Ingredients:
1 cup sesame seeds (til)
1 cup grated jaggery (gul)
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/4 teaspoon ghee (clarified butter)
Chopped pistachios or almonds for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly browned (about 5-7 minutes).
2. Remove the sesame seeds from the pan and set aside.
3. In the same pan, melt the ghee over low heat. Add the grated jaggery and cook, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth.
4. Add the cardamom powder and roasted sesame seeds to the jaggery mixture. Mix well.
5. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
6. Grease your hands with ghee and shape the mixture into small ladoos (balls).
7. Garnish with chopped nuts, if desired.
