The Basic Atwood Machine With Friction

Автор: INTEGRAL PHYSICS

Загружено: 2020-09-28

Описание: A block sitting on a rough level surface is connected by a massless string which runs over a massless pulley to a hanging block. The system is then released from rest.

In this problem calculate first whether or not the system will move. Then calculate the acceleration of the system.

THis problem uses Newton's Laws, specifically Newtons 2nd Law in order to set up a system of equations that can be used to model the physics at work in this problem.

Additionally we will derive a function for the tension in the connecting string.

This problem commonly comes up in high school physics, AP Physics, and college physics. It appears on the AP Physics Exam in various forms.
