A variety of management and Leadership styles exist for Leadership roles, but each individual utilizes a unique style to get work done. Successful leaders appreciate the importance of understanding the pros and cons of various Leadership approaches, their impact on the people they command, and the anticipated results.

This presentation highlights a detailed overview of the Blake-Mouton Managerial Grid, a Leadership model developed by Robert R. Blake and Jane Mouton. The model is a product of research at Exxon to improve the effectiveness of their Leadership. This grid provides a method to understand more about various Leadership styles and how they work, and is useful in understanding a leader's innate style, and pinpoint the skills they lack.

The Blake Mouton Managerial Grid model is based on 2 behavioral dimensions--Concern for People and Concern for Results--and encompasses 5 core Leadership styles:

1. The Impoverished (or Indifferent) Style
2. The Country Club (or Accommodating) Style
3. The Produce or Perish (or Dictatorial) Style
4. The Middle-of-the-Road (or Status Quo) Style
5. The Team (or Sound) Style

The Blake-Mouton Managerial Grid suggests that when concern for both people and results is high employee engagement and productivity stands out.
