EYEmusic
The EYEmusic series is an ongoing investigation into the nature and properties of a musical score. Traditional musical scores are an interactive web of symbols each with their own variability in meaning and definition. The directions of a score are determined through the interaction of each symbol with the other, the more symbols that are added the less variability a performer has in placing individual decisions into the structural framework. By providing the performers with a score that implies musical gesture without providing small variation/traditional symbols, the Eyemusic series allows for more open access of each performers individual database concerning their instrument. It also represents a search for new symbols which could eventually be brought into standard codification. (Aaron Bielish)
