Winter sets the pace for the entire season. Most gardeners wait for the thaw, but we start now because empty beds in May are a choice you make in January.
This video tracks the first seeds of the year. We move into the greenhouse to execute winter sowing for hardy vegetables that thrive in the cold. We don't ignore the reality of last season. We look at the failures, identify the hurdles, and change our tactics. If a crop failed last year, we find a better way to come at it this time.
We use the greenhouse to cheat the calendar and get the jump on the weather. Things happen in the garden when you stop waiting for permission from the thermometer.
