Kempens Veken: a Traditional Rural Field Gate from the Middle Ages

This is an other "Kempens veken", but a different variety than you've seen me make before. It's characterized by the diagonal making a triangle on top of the gate. This brace is there to counteract the sagging of the gate due to gravity.
This style of gate was very common in the Middle Ages and is features prominently on paintings of rural landscapes from the 15th and 16th century.
I made it again out of black locust wood. I was assembled in place at "het Karrenmuseum", an open ait museum focussing on animal-drawn carriages. I got some good help from a class of a local high school.
