Описание: ‘KINdling’ celebrates the communities of workers whose names we have forgotten and whose labours have shaped the Surrey landscape. Local people collaborated with sculptor Walter Bailey bringing a kindling stick to life by giving it a face, a pair of eyes and a mouth. Artist Ruth Wheeler also engaged lots of people in pyrography workshops. The resulting hundreds of kindling sticks were formed into this temporary installation. The project encourages us to consider how our lives and the choices we make continue to shape the landscape today both in Surrey and around the world. The KINdling project forms the community engagement programme for Walter Bailey's permanent artwork on Farnham Heath 'The House of Invisible Hands' as featured in BBC's 'Countryfile' tv programme.
