We were taught as Adventists not only that we could never know for sure whether or not we were saved, but also that it was a sin to say or believe that we were saved. These teachings are unbiblical heresies. The Bible tells us we are naturally dead, but in Christ we pass from death to life. We can know not only how to be saved but also that we are secure for eternity!
Colleen Tinker is the editor of Proclamation! magazine and also co-leads Former Adventist Fellowship with Richard, her husband. She was a third generation Seventh-day Adventist and spent 15 years teaching English in both Adventist and Christian junior high and high schools. In 1999 Colleen resigned as managing editor and news editor of Adventist Today when she and Richard left Adventism to make their behaviors congruent with their belief that Jesus alone saves.
