There are two types of spinning reel drag systems. Front (top-knob) drag systems provide smooth, controlled pressure—turn the knob clockwise to tighten and counter-clockwise to loosen. This setup is ideal for fighting big fish while protecting your line.
The lever drag system, located beneath the reel, is an older, more traditional design favored by some seasoned anglers who prefer a free-drag method. However, this style is becoming less common and may be phased out over time.
