Louise de Kéroualle grew up in a minor noble family and were often penniless. However, once Louise had finished school she was given the opportunity to be the lady in waiting for Henriette-Anne, the sister to King Charles II. This is where he would meet his head mistress and alleged one true love. She enjoyed a life of extravagence and had great power and influence over the king and his decisions. She often swayed him to make choices that benefitted France. She was disliked by the common people for being french, catholic and a minor noblewoman but she stayed by his side through all and any political strife. When the King died, she fell out of favour in the English court and was exiled to France where she would struggle to contain her frivolous nature leaving her in great debt.
