Prime Minister of Pakistan has taken notice of NEPRA’s newly introduced solar regulations. He has directed the Power Division to prepare a comprehensive plan to safeguard the interests of solar consumers. The Prime Minister emphasized that Power Division should file a review appeal with NEPRA to ensure protection of existing contracts and prevent additional burden on national grid electricity users.
Currently, there are 466,000 solar consumers, and the Prime Minister stressed that their costs should not be shifted onto 37.6 million national grid users. NEPRA had recently introduced a new framework requiring solar consumers to pay per unit charges, ending the unit-to-unit adjustment facility, and limiting net metering contracts to five years.
