'Make Elections Great Again' Act expands GOP push for federal election overhaul

Описание: The House Administration Committee held a hearing Tuesday on the newly introduced “Make Elections Great Again Act,” or MEGA Act, sponsored by Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., who chairs the committee. The hearing came just one day before the House is expected to vote on the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship and government-issued photo identification to register to vote.

Steil described the MEGA Act as a set of “common-sense” reforms designed to restore public confidence in elections.

“This is what’s needed to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat,” Steil said, adding that stronger election security would encourage greater voter participation.
