South Florida brush fire 100% contained, scorches 240 acres in Okeechobee County

Описание: Okeechobee County Fire Rescue was on scene Friday, battling a brush fire along NW 160th Street, near 144th Avenue, where an estimated 30 to 40 acres had burned.

In an update, Okeechobee County Fire Rescue said the fire is 100% contained.

OCFR said a trailer on the property was engulfed in flames, but no injuries to people or animals have been reported.

The fire comes amid critically dry conditions countywide as officials continue to warn that even a single spark could trigger a fast-moving wildfire. Earlier this week, Okeechobee County Public Safety Director and Fire Chief Earl Wooten issued a countywide burn ban after consulting with the Florida Forest Service, noting that vegetation moisture levels have dropped to “critically low points,” making the area highly vulnerable to wildfire spread.
