Happy Sunday! Join The CatholicTV Network for the solemn celebration of the Second Sunday of Lent, as we ascend the mountain with Jesus to behold His divine glory.
In today’s reverent Homily, Father Chris Hughes explores the profound mystery of the Transfiguration. Reflecting on the "amazement of the apostles," Father Hughes reminds us that the beauty shown in Christ’s body is a glimpse of the glory intended for all who remain faithful to the Gospel. We are encouraged to listen to the Beloved Son, allowing His light to guide us through the challenges of our daily lives. This Mass is a beautiful invitation to be "partakers even now of the things of heaven" while we continue our earthly pilgrimage toward the Resurrection.
The Scriptures highlight the call of faith and the revelation of Christ’s divinity:
-The First Reading (Genesis 12:1-4a): The Lord commands Abram to leave his land and kinsfolk for a land that He will show him, promising to make of him a great nation. Abram's immediate departure marks the beginning of a journey rooted in total trust in God’s word.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 33): A plea for divine protection: "Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you".
-The Second Reading (2 Timothy 1:8b-10): St. Paul exhorts Timothy to bear his share of hardship for the Gospel, reminding him that God has saved us and called us to a holy life through the appearance of our Savior, Christ Jesus.
-The Holy Gospel (Matthew 17:1-9): Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where He is transfigured before them; His face shines like the sun and His clothes become white as light. As Moses and Elijah appear, a voice from the bright cloud declares, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him".
Having received these glorious mysteries, let us pray that we may always desire the beauty of the Kingdom and remain faithful to the path the Lord has shown us.
