Описание: In our occasional series looking at a specific battle, siege or campaign, today we think about Julius Caesar's Egyptian adventure, which focused largely on Alexandria. More famous for his affair and alliance with Cleopatra, our theme is the political background and the military aspects of it all. In particular, we consider what it tells us about the Roman army of this era, not simply Caesar's own forces, but the Gabianians - Roman legionaries who seem to have settled in Egypt and served the Ptolemies.
