OMG its here, the Viltrox full frame 16mm f/1.8 lens for Sony system. And this time it is not just another wide angle here. We have a pro large aperture lens.

I was lucky enough to get my early hands on with this lens. And I gotta say, this is such a beautiful lens. First of all, the build quality is very solid. And we have a really cool little LCD display on top of the lens. Just like the Zeiss Batis series and Nikon Pro lens. Its makes the focus by wire lens a lot more accurate.

Second, the lens is super sharp even at f/1.8. The only thing I would say is due to the super wide angle field of view. Even at f/1.8 the bokeh isn’t that noticeable. And you can’t go too close to the subject because the lens doesn’t focus that close. But for lowlight this lens is amazing.

Overall, I was so enjoy using the lens. For the price and its size I would go for the Viltrox one over the Sony 14mm f/1.8 GM anytime. I mean of-course you get the benefit of 14mm field of view and the GM quality. But that lens is very hard for video shooter. As you can’t use ND filters. Unless you go for the gels or matt box. It makes the run and gun type of shooting a lot harder.
