Ecofeminist writer, Susan Griffin, speaks about her new book, A Chorus of Stones: The Private Life of War (1993). This lecture is part of the 1993 About Women lecture series. A Chorus of Stones investigates the relationship between private, intimate life and the public realities of modern war. She emphasizes the duality of public and private life and compares it to the duality of masculine and feminine experiences. She argues that “the problem of warfare is inextricably wound up with the problem of gender.” Griffin focuses particularly on the implications of nuclear weapons, the destruction of nature and the planet, and the “great longing to go back to the deeper knowledge of who we really are.” The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
