As Republic Day approaches, the merging of the Amar Jawan Jyoti, an eternal flame honouring our jawans' sacrifices, with the National War Memorial is a proud and patriotic moment for every Indian. In a historic move ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the Amar Jawan Jyoti, or "everlasting light," honouring soldiers at India Gate was fused with the torch at the National War Memorial in a ceremony on Friday. A piece of the light was carried to the war memorial this afternoon in a ceremony presided over by Integrated Defence Staff commander Air Marshal Balabadhra Radha Krishna.
