Though commonly associated with the best-selling 1939 recording by the Orrin Tucker band with ‘Wee’ Bonnie Baker, this is what the tune sounded like when it first became a hit for the popular American Quartet (Billy Murray, Albert Campbell, John H. Meyer, and William F. Hooley).
Audio from CD source, the original 78rpm single was issued on Victor 18279 - Oh Johnny, Oh Johnny Oh! (Ed Rose-Abe Olman) by The American Quartet, orchestra conducted by Josef Pasternack, recorded in Camden NJ March 16, 1917 .
