Recently, many sellers received an email from GeM asking them to remove or discontinue incorrect product listings. This created confusion around whether an incident was raised on their profile or if any immediate action was required.

This video explains what the email actually means and what actions are required from sellers.

🔸 Important Clarifications You Must Know
Please note the following points carefully:
• This email was sent to all registered GeM sellers as a default system notice
• The email is relevant only if you have uploaded incorrect products
• Incorrect listings include wrong category, wrong images, incorrect specifications, or irrelevant documents
• Deadline to remove or discontinue wrong products was 1st Sept, 2023 to 15th Sept, 2023

🔸 Why This Action Is Important
GeM issued this instruction because:

• Sellers were uploading products in incorrect categories, for example, cartridges listed under books or printers listed under desktops
• Buyers were receiving confusing or incorrect orders due to mismatched images and specifications
• GeM aims to ensure proper cataloging, transparency, and a smooth buying experience

🔸 What Sellers Should Do Now
To stay compliant and avoid incidents:
• Review all product listings on your GeM profile carefully
• Remove or discontinue products uploaded under the wrong categories
• If a product is temporarily unavailable, update stock quantity to zero instead of deleting it
• Ensure future uploads strictly match category, specifications, images, and documents

🔸Proper categorization is mandatory on GeM.
If a suitable category is not available, sellers may request a custom category, but until approval, products should not be uploaded to unrelated categories.
By following these steps, you can avoid incidents, maintain a clean seller profile, and ensure long-term compliance on the GeM portal.
