Better and easier access to technology and tools enables more people to find and express their creative side. The downside is that the average quality of produts drops over time. We all need to start somewhere, we all need to learn, we all grow and improve. In an effort to try and help the community I have been a part of for a large part of my life, I would like to focus on various parts of game development I've been noticing a number of indie titles struggle with. Form over function, control scheme mapping, player metrics, polish – these are a few things I focus on in this video, at a very basic level. I hope this video can help developers focus a bit more on the usual problem areas with indie games, and maybe shorten the learning curve of some developers and accelerate their path to success.
