Описание: A brand-new chapter begins at the Kisatchie National Forest E-1 nest as (assumed) first-time parents Louis II & Anna II welcome their very first eaglet, E1-04.

This video follows the anticipation, patience, and quiet teamwork leading up to hatch - from early glimpses of a tiny pip to the moment Anna II is on watch when the eaglet finally breaks free. Both parents stay closely tuned in, alternating nest duties, delivering food and nesting materials, and keeping a careful eye on their growing family.

Once hatched, E1-04 spends the first day adjusting to life outside the shell: squirming, resting, and sharing precious early moments with both parents.

As with any new family, there are learning moments along the way - from figuring out feedings to chasing off intruders - but it’s clear this little family is already finding its rhythm. These clips capture the tenderness, vigilance, and wonder of a first hatch, and the start of what promises to be a memorable journey at the E-1 nest.

"Anna became ill on December 27, 2023 after eating a dead rodent on December 26th. A young intruder female showed up and there was an altercation in the air between Anna and this young female on December 31, 2023. Anna ended up on the ground and was retrieved by Forest Rangers Cody and Steve. She was brought to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s Wildlife Hospital the morning of January 1, 2024 where she was quickly euthanized. Louis incubated their one egg and fought with the young intruder female until January 3, 2024. Louis has not been seen since."
