For the past 35 years, I have cooked on a Majestic wood cookstove from the 1890s, and this past year I finally upgraded to a new La Nordica Milly Wood Cook Stove imported from Italy.
La Nordica manufactures several different cookstove models, and some have boiler loops for heating water, but these don’t come with the upper stove back and warming oven.
The Milly model can be installed with or without the warming oven, but unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a boiler loop. I needed both, so I ultimately decided to order the Milly cookstove and figure out my own boiler conversion after the stove arrived.
Drilling holes through the stove and installing plumbing admittedly voids the warranty and may alter the stove’s performance. After several months of testing, I am pleased with the effectiveness of the boiler system. Follow along as we dive into the story behind the stove!
