Hi-Tek Supercoat Bullets vs Copper Plated Bullets

XMetal Targets Hi-Tek Supercoat bullets offer lots of benefits. As there is no copper jacket / plating:

The bullets cost less
Less friction between the bullet and barrel
The barrel remains cooler with less friction
Less friction is less barrel wear extending barrel life
Bullet flies faster with less friction through the barrel thereby requires less powder to make your normal Power Factor or velocity
Using less powder means your cost per round is less and you can make more cartridges per pound of powder
The Hi-tek Supercoat doesn't flake off so it keeps your hands clean of lead
No smoke unlike conventional lead bullets so great for indoor use

Here is a safety factor to consider as well. As there is no copper jacket / plating, shooting at steel targets is safer as it is the copper jacket / plating that usually flies back at the shooter! As well, the copper plating tends to keep some of the bullet's lead fragments together after impacting on the steel target. These situation can result in larger pieces of bullet fragments bouncing back towards the shooter. Regardless of the bullet type you are using, Hi-Tek or Copper Plated, you should always exercise caution when shooting at steel. Follow your shooting club's minimum safe range for shooting at steel and / or any Provincial / State and Federal regulations regarding steel targets and their use.

I use the Hi-Tek Supercoat bullets: .40 S&W 220gr. They function great in my Tanfoglio Limited Custom. XMetal Targets offers the Hi-Tek Supercoat bullets in the following calibers:

9mm: 115gr, 125gr and 147gr
.40 S&W: 180gr and 220gr
.45 Auto 230gr
.38Sp 147gr
.38SWC 158gr

They are also making remanufactured ammunition in most calibers mentioned above: 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 Auto , .223 Rem and .308 Win.

The steel target used in this video is a XMetal Targets portable target tripod armoured with a tombstone target. Both the tripod and target are made from premium AR500 armoured steel.
