How to Plan a last minute trip to Banff National Park (And score a campsite)

Banff gets super busy in the summertime, so it’s better to book your trip in advance, but if you’re like us, you might want to wait to make a last-minute visit to Banff National Park.

It’s possible, but you must be flexible (especially if you are on a budget).

Making a camping trip was our best option.

We found a last-minute spot at Tunnel Mountain Campground for a night and decided to stay at the Lake Louise Overflow another night (it’s a first come-first serve dry campground.

✅ There are other first-come-first-serve campground options on the Icefields Parkway.

The most stressful part was getting tickets for the Moraine Lake shuttle. I tried for the first Day, and it was sold out. I tried again for the next day and finally got our tickets.
