The Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation reports the industry now contributes $24 billion to the state's economy, surpassing mining in GDP contribution. Valley of Fire State Park reached 1 million visitors and opened a new visitor center. Lake Mead National Recreation Area is also a popular destination. The state is investing heavily in outdoor infrastructure, including Adventure Centers in Northern and Southern Nevada. While Hoover Dam rafting tours saw a slight dip mirroring Las Vegas tourism, Lake Mead properties experienced increased business.
