Helping kids sleep
Most parents know that establishing a bedtime routine for their children is important, but many don’t know exactly what that routine should entail. A bedtime routine aims to help children wind down and prepare for sleep.
There is no one-size-fits-all bedtime routine, but here are some general tips:
• Start about 30 minutes before bedtime.
• Avoid screen time, including watching TV, using the computer, or playing on a smartphone or tablet.
• Avoid caffeine and sugar.
• Establish a regular bedtime and stick to it as much as possible.
• Follow a calming routine, such as reading a book, bathing, and brushing teeth.
• Make sure the bedroom is dark, quiet, and cool.
