Stomach pain in IBD isn’t always just about inflammation—there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface.
In Crohn’s and colitis, pain can come from sensitive gut nerves, strictures (narrowing), blockages, abscesses, or fistulas.
Sometimes, even when inflammation settles down, your gut nerves stay on high alert, so pain lingers.
Stress, anxiety, and even joint or pelvic pain can make things worse, too. If you’ve ever had gut pain that wouldn’t quit—even when your IBD seemed “under control”—you’re not alone.
