(15 Aug 2017) US Vice President Mike Pence focussed on regional security and the dangers of global extremist violence and trans-national crime in a speech at the Buenos Aires stock exchange on Tuesday.
"From North Korea to Iran, the threats to our global security are numerous and growing and no threat is more widespread than that of global terrorism," stated Pence.
"We stand together to confront the most immediate threat to Latin America's security and prosperity, the menace of trans-national crime", he added.
Pence's comments came during a packed day that has included meetings with local officials and a visit to the city's grand cathedral.
Pence's visit to Latin America comes amid unrest in Venezuela and concern by its neighbours about a possible American military role.
