Surgeons in New York have completed the first whole eye transplant in a living human.
It's too soon to know if the patient will be able to see through the new eye but the accomplishment is still being hailed as a breakthrough.
Transplant recipient Aaron James lost his arm and parts of his face after he accidentally touched a live wire while working as a high voltage lineman.
Less than two years after Mr James’ accident, doctors at New York universities performed a successful partial face and whole eye transplant.
His new eye hasn’t opened yet, but doctors remain hopeful as it continues to receive blood flow.
